News: Cast and Creative Team Announced for Stand By

Utter is delighted to announce the cast and creative team for Stand By; the world premiere written by Adam McNamara.

Produced in association with The Byre Theatre, St Andrews, Stand By will be directed by Joe Douglas (Co-Artistic Director of Utter), with Associate Director Jo Rush.

The production will see Natasha Jenkins as Designer, Kate Bonney as Lighting Designer and Kevin Murray as Sound Designer.

A tense and timely look at the modern day Police Force, the Stand By cast will include writer Adam McNamara (Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, Black Watch), with Andy Clark (River City, Music is Torture), Jamie Marie Leary (Expensive Shit, Locker Room Talk) and Laurie Scott (Death of a Salesman, Spoiling).

Written by a former Police Officer, Stand By will give audiences an authentic insight into working for the services; exploring ideas surrounding community, safety and the ongoing pressures felt by the public sector.

Talking about the production, director Joe Douglas said:

‘The story is set in a close-knit housing scheme in Dundee but speaks more universally about the function of the Police and the security of our communities. Adam’s perspective as a writer is unusual as he knows what the job of a Police Officer is: the pressures, the mundanity, the admin, mixed in with bursts of adrenaline.’

Stand By
will preview at The Byre, St Andrews from 4 – 5 August and tickets can be booked here.

The production will then open at Army@The Fringe, in association with Summerhall, from 11 – 26 August. Part of the Made in Scotland Showcase 2017, tickets for the Edinburgh Festival Fringe performances can be purchased here.

Stand By will announce its Autumn 2017 tour thereafter.
